White Bread – Recipe

  • 250ml Water
  • 500g Strong White Plain Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon of Skimmed Milk Powder
  • 1 and a Half Teaspoons of Salt
  • 2 Teaspoons of Granulated Sugar
  • 25g Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon Fast-Action Dried Yeast

  • Please check the instruction manual of your bread machine with regards to the order the ingredients should be added. The order below will suit most bread machines but if it doesn’t, simply add then to the bread pan in the order specified.
  • Take the bread making pan from the machine to avoid spilling ingredients into the body of the machine and fit the kneader blade. Pour the water into the bread making pan then sprinkle the flour over the top to completely cover it.
  • Dice the butter and add to the bread making a pan, along with the salt and sugar – place each ingredient into separate corners of the pan.
  • Make a small indent in the centre of the flour and add the yeast.
  • Place the bread making pan into the bread machine. Close the lid then set the machine to “Basic White/Normal” (or equivalent), then select the loaf size (medium) and crust type. Press Start.
  • At the end of the bread machine programme, carefully remove the bread pan from the bread machine using gloves – then remove the bread and place on a wire rack to cool.
